Sibbald Point Outdoor Education Centre is committed to providing programs about the environment, for the environment, in the environment, that are safe, engaging and experiential. Our goal is to foster future stewards of the earth who inquire about connections to one another and the world around them.
Located within Sibbald Point Provincial Park on the south shore of Lake Simcoe, it is the most northerly of the York Region District School Board's five outdoor education centres.
The centre offers classes programs that are tailored to the season and the learning goals of each group. Depending on the programs in which they participate, students may explore the lake shore, the wetland, the pond, the meadows and/or the forests in the park. Students who visit when there is snow will snowshoe or kick sled through some of these habitats. All of the students who visit will participate in programs that foster an appreciation of the natural world through outdoor games and investigations that are curriculum-based, hands-on, active and fun.
