Parents and students in classroom

Parent engagement matters. Studies have shown us that student achievement improves when parents play an active role in their children's education, and that good schools become even better schools when parents are involved. It is recognized that parent engagement is a key factor in the enhancement of student achievement and well-being.

PEAC Mandate

The purpose of the Parent Family and Community Engagement Advisory
Committee (PEAC) is to support, encourage and enhance parent engagement at
the Board level in order to improve student achievement and well-being.

PEAC shall achieve its purpose by:

  • Providing information and advice on parent engagement to the Board.
  • Communicating with and supporting school councils of schools of the Board.
  • Undertaking activities to help parents of pupils of the Board support their children’s learning at home and at school.
