Schools Closed to Students for Remainder of School Year

The Ministry of Education has announced that all schools will remain closed to students and staff for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year. Students will continue virtual learning during this time.

Addressing the Board of Trustees

 

Public Forum

In addition to the formal delegation process, the York Region District School Board hosts an informal Public Forum from 7:00 to 7:15 p.m. during the Board Standing Committee meeting. At this time members of the community may speak to any appropriate public issue not already slated for consideration on the agenda.

Although it is not necessary to register prior to the meeting, you may call Corporate Secretariat and Trustee Services, extension 2327 to reserve a spot.

 

Delegations

Members of the community who wish to make a formal presentation to the Board of Trustees should contact the Manager of Corporate Secretariat and Trustee Services (extension 2217) well in advance of the meeting date. You will be required to submit a written request, using the Request for Delegate Status Form, to Chair's Committee with the following information included:

  • the date
  • topic of discussion
  • a detailed summary of the topic
  • technological requirements
  • personal or organizational contact information of up to two presenters
  • any additional materials you wish to be provided to the Board of Trustees. 


After your delegation request has been submitted, a tracking number will be sent directly to your email account. Please keep this number for reference purposes.

Section 4:01 of the York Region District School Board Operational By-Law, outlines the actions that Chair's Committee may take when considering delegation requests. Issues of a private nature such as personnel, student and property matters, as well as those issues under litigation, are considered during Private Session.

Approved delegations will be scheduled on the appropriate Board, Advisory or Board Committee meeting agenda and will be allocated a total of 15 minutes to make their presentations and answer questions. A maximum of two speakers are permitted. Following the presentation, the Board may take immediate action or refer the matter to staff or another committee, pending further information or a staff report.
