As part of York Region District School Board's Director’s Action Plan, every elementary and secondary school is involved in network learning focused on providing effective instruction and assessment that reflect students' identities, lived experiences, strengths, needs and interests. One administrator, and up to three teachers, from each school are participating in three full day learning sessions with release time provided in between to collaboratively plan, implement and reflect upon the learning.
The networks build upon board developed resources, such as long range plans and resources to support coding and financial literacy, and make use of books purchased for every school to promote culturally inclusive mathematics. Additional learning opportunities include sessions on building fact fluency, pedagogy and assessment.
To support math learning at home, the math page on the board’s website is updated regularly to provide families with resources, links and content connected to Ontario’s Mathematics curriculum.
