For a year and a half, Sam Beljanski, Ed Wagstaff and Al MacDonald built 5 replica WWI Canadian Air force planes following as closely to the original blueprints as possible. The planes were made of aluminum instead of wood and the engines slightly differ. Sam Beljanski helped in creating these planes because it was "always something [he] wanted to do." Beljanski continued "simple things are the best." He admired the simplicity of World War One planes in contrast to modern advancements in flight.
