Once the student application has been accepted, there are certain requirements that must be fulfilled before arriving in Canada.
It is expected that the study permit application is made within two weeks of receiving the Letter of Acceptance.
Please visit the IRCC website regularly for updates to the travel policy.
We encourage you to make travel plans only when your child has met any of the required travel conditions. International students, and accompanying family members, entering Canada must follow the travel guidelines established by the Government of Canada. A checklist is available to guide you through the steps.

It is mandatory for each student entering secondary school (grade 9-12) to register and complete the English test available in the Pre-Arrival Learning Program (PAL). The PAL program has multiple features; it assesses English proficiency, provides tutorials to increase use of English and vocabulary, and includes an orientation to the school board and the Homestay program. If the invitation to sign-up for PAL has not been received by the time the Letter of Acceptance is issued, please notify us by email at: international.education@yrdsb.ca.
