There are lots of ways you can continue to support your child’s language development at home, including:
- reading, writing and storytelling with your child using home language(s), which provides a strong foundation for learning English as an additional language
- asking your child about school and encouraging them to share what they’re learning in home language(s) and/or English
- playing interactive games that support language learning
- singing songs, reciting poems and learning nursery rhymes help children develop literacy skills through rhythm and repetition
- communicating with your child’s educators
