Director of Education Selection Process

The Board of Trustees is in the process of selecting a new Director of Education.

Share Your Feedback

Staff and community members are invited to provide input and share recommendations for a potential candidate by completing a confidential survey.
Complete the survey

The confidential online survey is an important part of the process in selecting a new Director of Education. Responses received by Tuesday March 28, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. will be considered in the development of the Director of Education candidate profile, evaluation criteria and job description. Responses received after this date will be shared with trustees for their information.

Please contact Trustee Services at trustee.services@yrdsb.ca or 905-727-0022 ext. 2217 if you require the survey in an alternative format. Learn more about the Policy and Procedure #212.0 Director of Education Selection.

Input will also be collected through individual consultation meetings with members of the Director of Education Selection Advisory Committee (DESAC) - a committee of trustees, staff and community members. The confidential consultation meetings will be facilitated by representatives from the executive search firm.

Process

On February 21, 2023, the Board of Trustees approved executive search firm Four Corners Group (FCG) to support the search, following a Request for Proposal process. FCG has significant experience hiring executive-level positions in school boards and other public sector agencies. The Board is confident in the knowledge, skills, experience and professionalism that the FCG team will bring to the process.

Over the next few months:

  • Four Corners Group will collect and analyze feedback from the survey and consultation meetings and share with the Director of Education Selection Advisory Committee and trustees.

  • Trustees will receive training on bias-free and equitable hiring practices and ethical decision making.

  • Trustees will work with Four Corners Group to conduct the recruitment process.

Trustees anticipate the recruitment process to be completed by June 6, 2023, with a new Director of Education being announced following approval by the Minister of Education.
