Multi-Year Accessibility Plan

Annual Accessibility Report

The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) requires all publically funded organizations to examine themselves annually to ensure that they are progressing in their efforts to become more accessible to people with disability-related needs.

Under the AODA, school boards are required to "prepare an annual accessibility report on the progress of measures taken to implement the [multi-year accessibility plan].” In compliance with the AODA, the Annual Accessibility Report 2021-2022 has been published. This report outlines the measures taken in the past school year to identify, remove and prevent barriers to accessibility for everyone who learns works and/or participates in the YRDSB community.

Multi-Year Accessibility Plan

In addition to preparing an annual accessibility or status report, the Board is also required to "establish, implement, maintain and document a multi-year accessibility plan, which outlines the organization’s strategy to prevent and remove barriers and meet its requirements under this Regulation.”(O. Reg. 191/11, s. 4).

YRDSB has renewed its Multi-Year Accessibility Plan 2020 to 2025 to describe the goals and measures that will be taken over the period of September 2020 to August 2025 to identify, remove, and prevent barriers to accessibility at YRDSB. In addition, the full Multi-Year Accessibility Plan 2020 to 2025 has also been condensed into a Multi-Year Accessibility Plan: Annual Checklist 2021-2022 that outlines the accessibility plans and objectives for the current school year. The Annual Checklist outlines the accessibility plans, goals and objectives for the 2020-2021 school year.

Members of the public can access all of these plans as well as past Annual Accessibility Reports and Multi-Year Plans on the Human Rights Commissioner’s Office section of the YRDSB website.
