5.0 Submission and Availability of School Board Plans

Members of the public have electronic access to copies of the Special Education Plan through the Board website.

At the SEAC Meeting in June, the Special Education Advisory Committee approves the Special Education Plan, as amended, and authorizes its submission to the Ministry of Education for approval. This approval is then taken to a Board Meeting where a motion is made to approve the plan as amended.

Following the approval of the plan by the Board, two copies of the Special Education Plan, and any amendments, are forwarded to the local district office of the Ministry of Education. The complete plan is submitted along with the following documents:

  • a letter from the Director of the school board that confirms that the YRDSB Special Education Plan is being submitted in compliance with the requirements of Regulation 306 and with the standards outlined in Special Education in Ontario, Kindergarten to Grade 12 Policy and Resource Guide, 2017;
  • a copy of the Board’s motion of approval of the plan, including the date of approval; and
  • a copy of any related motions or recommendations from the Board’s SEAC.
