Aquatic Leadership Program (Richmond Hill)

Part 1: ​Healthy Living and Aquatic Activities, Grade 10 Open (PAQ2O1)


Includes the Lifesaving Society's Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross Certifications, and Standard First-Aid with CPR-C, embedded in the Ontario Curriculum.

Ministry of Education - Ontario Secondary School Credit and Lifesaving Society Certifications:

  • ​1 Secondary School Credit – Healthy Living and Aquatic Activities (PAQ2O)

  • Lifesaving Society's Bronze Medallion

  • Lifesaving Society's Bronze Cross

  • Lifesaving Society's Standard First Aid with CPR-C

 

Prerequisites

Students must:

  • be 13 years of age or older
  • currently attend a Secondary School
  • be able to swim 400 metres

 

Locatio​n and Times

Start Date:  Wednesday, September 18, 2024

End Date:  Wednesday, January 15, 2025

Times:   5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Location: The Wave Pool - 5 Hopkins St., Richmond Hill, ON L4C 0C1, 905-508-9283

Cost: $200.00 (Covers Lifesaving Society course materials and exam fees; all types of payment accepted by City of Richmond Hill)

Aquatic Leadership Courses through the City of Richmond Hill recommend 100% attendance. Late admission cannot be granted. For this reason, cancellation requests must be submitted a minimum of five business days prior to the start of the first class in order to receive a refund. No refund will be granted for late requests.

Remote Learning Only Classes

The decision to run classes is based on student enrollment and teacher availability. Students must attend all classes. Assessments and Evaluations will occur throughout the program.

Course Expectations will be assessed and evaluated using Standard Lifesaving Society evaluation criteria and the Ontario Ministry of Education Curriculum Expectations.

“An examiner and Instructor Trainer from the Lifesaving Society will evaluate the aquatic skills required for National Lifeguard and Swim and Lifesaving Instructor certifications.”

How to Register


Registration involves two steps:

Step 1. Register at Aquatic Leadership Program (Richmond Hill) - Registration webpage​.

Step 2. Register with the City of Richmond Hill - further instructions on this step will be forwarded upon receipt and review of the YRDSB registration.
