Preparing for an Apprenticeship in Secondary School

  • The Exploring Opportunities Program is a YRDSB specialty "high skills" program providing access to apprenticeships for students with an interest and aptitude in any one of the four trade sectors: manufacturing, construction, service or transportation.   • Technological education focuses on developing students’ ability to work creatively and competently with technologies that are central to their lives.

The curriculum in this area takes an activity-based, project-driven approach to learning that provides students with knowledge, skills, and experiences in communication, construction, design, hospitality and tourism, manufacturing, personal and health services, and transportation.
